There are times when we crave for home style food devoid of fancy plating and exotic ingredients. Especially when we are miles away from home, in Bangalore and look for the food, that satiates our soul, and reminds me of flavours and essence of north.

Mumbai Xpress , a quaint QSR chain in Bangalore since 2014, is providing popular vegetarian food from Mumbai and north India to large migrant populace in the city, with a sole aim of providing affordable home style food from their region.

Latest addition to their chain, is their outlet at Koramangla, located very close to the Jyoti Niwas College, where I recently went for a quick lunch with few friends. Living up to its name , the menu here , serves variety of Bombiyya sandwiches , Burgers and pizzas , mostly named after slangs & places in the city of Mumbai. For those who love the Desi Chinese , they have “Cheeni Khana ” with options from noodles and fried rice dishes from Darjeeling, Tibet and Sikkim. They even have Gobi Manchurian, the most revered Chinese dish in southern India, as part of their menu.

Reminding me of Delhi days, is their Meal in the bowl section, very apt for those who are looking for the quick meal during lunch hours.Yes , you guessed it right ! I am talking about the Chole Chawal , Dal Chawal , Kadi Chawal , that anyone from north would easily relate to. The chats , Vada pavs , Pav Bhaji , Mini meals , sunday meal and variety of Paranthas , also constitute part of their food menu. Among the drinks , their Kulhad Chai is my favourite along with their cold coffee.
