Shao - among the best 3 Asian places around Marathalli

In Bengaluru, there are few asian food destinations that I love to visit more often. And SHAO on Marathalli ORR has always been on my list of favorites for more than a decade now, having many lovely memories there.

Part of culinary options at Radisson Blu ( erstwhile Park Plaza), this 60 seater Asian fine dining place has been serving a delectable oriental menu since 2011.

With rebranding of the property, Shao now has a new elegant soothing ambience that exudes mystical vibes from the far east. The presence of oriental sculptures and artefacts adds to the charm.

In 2019, it has also bagged the prestigious Eazydiner Foodie Awards for “Best Oriental Restaurant in a Hotel ”.

I was recently invited by my dear friend, Sandhya Nair, the Marketing & Communications Head to try their special menu curated by Chef Rajender Thapa who excels in Chinese, Japanese and Thai fare.

Some of the highlights of the new menu are Wonton & kaffir lime soup; Baby spinach Bao; Togarashi spinach tempura; Pecking duck rolls; Sichuan spicy chicken; Barbeque pork spare ribs; Bokchoy and mushroom; Kung pao eggplant; Omani rock lobster; Pan grilled sizzling chicken; Double cooked pork belly; Yang Zhou Chao fan and Wasabi cheese cake

During my lunch, I also had the pleasure of meeting extremely gracious and dynamic Mr Rupam Dutta, General Manager. A seasoned hotelier with nearly 3 decades of experience, he is an Alumnus of IAM Kolkata and has worked with many top brands.

Another hallmark of the Asian experience at Shao is their well-trained, Knowledgeable and hospitable service and kitchen staf. The food orders were taken promptly, and served the dishes efficiently at the right serving temperature.

Be it casual catch up , or a business dinner or celebrations, this indeed one of the best bet for asian food around my side of Bengaluru. Special mention for Jani for great service that made my experience even more memorable.
