Read Time:1 Minute, 53 Second

The name Eat Water may look misnomer to many of us but those from east india , especially from Bangal , would easily relate to it, as it literally translate into “Jol Khabo” , a phrase in bangali.

For those want to taste the slice of East Indian cuisine in Bangalore, this is indeed a welcome choice.

As you enter this place on the posh lavalle road, the interiors would provide you with the glimpse of kolkata with the hand pulled rickshaw , a 130 years legacy of Kolkata , near the entrance and portraits of Tagore and Satyajit Ray reminding of great Bengal heritage.

The food is pleasantly contemporary and those looking for authentic food will could be initially disappointed.

The excitingly innovative dips , like Smoked Aubergine ,Quintessentially Bengali Banana Leaf Wrap Mustard ,Creamy , Coconutty Shrimp Dip and the Kosha, served with savoury like Banana Chips and Kuchi Nimki, sets the right tone for the meal here.

The Shukto mousse soup is bound to delight most bengalis with a twist to their vegetarian traditional delicacy., and so would their Mutton Mince and Moong Daal, that resembled like a appetising haleem in disguise to me.

111

The inclusion of chop and boras in their menu, remind me of my kolkata days when I tasted these street food delicacies for the first time. We loved the Non Veg Chop Platter but unfortunately had to skip their veg one.

The Mutton Pora , the pot oven roasted lamb in banana leaves, and their signature Aubergine Meat Boat , the spicy meat mice stuffed in the grilled aubergine boat, is an excellent choice to order here.

112

The chicken and mustard delicacy from Odisha, Kukkuda Sorisa, bengal’s very own Kosha and Prawns in Coconut cream sauce, were part of mains we tried. Initially wary of trying their Kasundi Rice , it is now my favourite here. And I would recommend everyone who visits Eatwater, to try it.

Bengal is not about fish or kosha mangsho (mutton). They have Bora (like bhajjis), mocha, shukto and much more

113

While having the meal , their drinks like tangy spicy Krazy Imli , the evergreen Aam Pora Sarbot and Gondhoraj Ghol are highly recommended.

114

Their array of Desserts like the Mango and Date Palm CheesecakeDate Palm Flavoured Icecream and Tender Coconut Icecream are worth trying too.
