My Waffle Story

Waffles has been part of life since childhood. It was introduced to me by my school mate who was also my immediate neighbour. Unlike at our home , the Waffle making was part of their Sunday ritual and luckily her mother had realised my fondness for them. And thus an open invitation was extended to me to be part of their Sunday breakfast. She used to prepare the batter and used to make the waffles with their waffle iron. I guess it was 4 square iron one , if my memory serves me right. Meanwhile , My friend and I used to patiently wait at their dining table for the waffle till it used to arrive at our plates.Well that was my Waffle story.

Waffle Wale

My quest for best Belgian waffles in Bangalore took me to the Waffle Wale, located on Meenakshi Mall at Banerghetta road in Bangalore. Recommended by some of the food lovers in the city , they have been in scene for over 3 years now. The brain behind the venture is Chetan Kedia ,a young Investment banker who has travelled to Europe and lived in UK for 5 years. During this period, he grew fondness for the waffles.He decided to learn and perfect the waffle recipe before returning to Indian and starting his food venture.

The outlet serves only the Belgian waffles , namely the Liege and the Brussels. While the former are softer (i.e. without the crunch), doughier and sweeter ,the later are light and crispy in nature. They have added some twists in array of toppings and flavours too.

I feel Liege , due to its dough density , will make one feel after having more than two or three. Even without any toppings , they are delectable. On the other hand, I would prefer the Brussels waffles , the lighter and crispier ones , with a delicious toppings.

To compliment their waffle offerings ,they also serve thick shakes and desserts. The home delivery too is available for the nearby areas on benerghetta road.
