Restaurant Review : The taste of western UP at the Aligarh House HSR , Bangalore | India

Read Time:2 Minute, 17 Second

Ever thought of relishing the food straight from the kitchens of Aligarh and Muradabad , miles away in Bangalore ?

Well , I have  a perfect answer to that. Aligarh House in HSR layout.

Through my close friend, I came to know about this perhaps the first such brand of cloud kitchen that excels in bringing the delectable recipes from the Western UP and Delhi to the our city of Bangalore.

The Cuisine from Uttar Pradesh

Broadly the cuisine of Uttar Pradesh can be divided in to 3 culinary  regions of Western UP, Oudh or Awadh and Eastern UP.

The Awadhi food is most famous among the three , and well known for its Kababs, Biryani and Nihari.

The culinary belt of eastern UP is known for its rice pulao called Tehri along with Murg Musallam and Reshmi kababs. The sweets like Khurchan and Peda from Mathura and Petha from agra are well known to most of food lovers too.

The cuisine in focus here , from western Uttar Pradesh or Rampur region , is known for its fish delicacies like Rampuri Rohu and Zamindoz , Kebabs like Pasanda Kabob and Shab Deg and Paneer Pasand for vegetarians.

If you have ever been to that part of India in the north , you will love the lingering taste and rich flavours in the foods of western UP hinterland like Amroha, Muradabad, Bijnor, Rampur, Meerut, Muzafarnagar etc.

Recently ,from Aligarh House, we ordered some of their Biryanis along with Kashmiri style Mutton Trami Bowl accompanied by the Mutton Rogan Josh gravy.

A2

We started off with the variants of Muradabadi Biryanis , Mutton and chicken and the Aligarh House Masala Dum Biryani. These biryanis are mild as compared to ones in the southern India but very flavourful. Lighter on the spices than the Dilli and other biryanis, the preparation uses whole ( khada) spices, and is made from kaccha basmati rice. The meats are cooked to make yakhni and then prepared through Dum.

Inspired by the by rare local cuisines found in interiors of India , the Kashmiri style Mutton Trami Bowl are Bowls are inspired by Wazwaan, the Kashmiri feast. It has Rista , the mutton balls preparation from kashmir, richly flavoured and spicy Mutton Roghan Josh and Mutton Seekh Kababs along with long grain Basmati rice. This dish gave us the real glimpse of Kashmiri tastes and flavours after a long long time in Bangalore.

My Verdict :

This Delivery Only place serves dishes with authentic western up flavours and is must try for all the food lovers.

For the Biryani crazy Bangaloreans , here is time to relish the Muradabadi biryanis , brand new addition to the list of biryanis in city. They are soon coming up with second kitchen in Koramangla.
