Restaurant Review : Chinita – Mexican bistro now at Koramangla , Bangalore | India

As Americans, we tend to look at Mexican food as nachos, which is not Mexican food really – they don’t eat them. Anthony Bourdain

Even for me, the Mexican food was all about the nachos and tacos and the american tex-mex style food before I went to Chinita couple of years ago at Indiranagar. And there ,it was a reality check for me and my entire perception about this cuisine changed for better.

Now the Bangalore’s very own authentic Mexican Bistro , Chinita has spread its wings to the south Bangalore, with opening of their second outlet in Koramangala. Known for its authentic and delicious Mexican delicacies , this place, under the culinary aegis of Chef Candice Lock Mirchandani, who studied authentic Mexican cuisine in New York and then travelled to Mexico to learn from both professional as well as home chefs.

We started with the Elote , the grilled corn on the cob , the cheese and chilly powder on it made it delicious. Also served to us was the tasting portion of all popular tortilla chips with freshly prepared Mexican avocado based dip, guacamole

The chicken Nachos and chicken salad were the next two dishes we tried. The best thing about this place is that it serves authentic and delicious Mexican delicacies with traditional tastes and flavours. Their Prawn Grilled Tacos prepared on the grill and topped with a zesty avocado-tomato salsa.were simply outstanding.

For me no mexican is dessert feast is complete their fried-dough choux pastry, Churros and I loved it here too. They also have Chocolate Chilli Cake in their menu for those who are daring.

VEGAN MENU

With the growing trends of veganism and health conscious diets, the restaurant has also started offering vegan versions of a significant number of dishes on their menu, which has seen a tremendous response. They do
vegan appetizers like tortilla chips and guacamole, salsas, nachos and vegan mains like tacos, tostadas, burritos and burrito bowls. They even do a vegan version of their famous churros for dessert.

“After the success in Indiranagar, the Chinita bandwagon is all set to win hearts in South Bangalore. We felt it was time that we expand our customer base and we feel ecstatic to have banked a hot location like Koramangala͟” says Sameer, co-owner of Chinita.

AMBIENCE
This Mexican bistro has a very minimalist and casual style of interiors with a mix of wood and industrial metal work. I wish the seating was little more comfortable and functional. To compliment the Mexican cuisine , the Latino music and good service enhances the experience.

HISTORY OF CHINITA
Chinita was born in December 2011 as a stall at the famous Sunday Soul Sante event, serving ͞Real Mexican Tacos͟. From the first stall to the second stall at the next Soul Sante event, Chinita started to gain popularity which led to quite a few catering orders. In 2014, Chinita opened their first outlet in the bustling food neighbourhood of Indiranagar, in Bangalore.
